Eliminating Worry
Worry might be considered a sin because it denies God's ever-present goodness. Its root meaning is, "to strangle." Jesus counseled against worry, and Christian Science replaces the negative thoughts of worry with positive proofs of joy and freedom. It destroys worry by showing that worry has no true existence or origin.
In speaking strongly against worry Christ Jesus said, "Take therefore no thought for the morrow." Matt. 6:34; Having stripped worry of a future to feed on, he further tells us in the Sermon on the Mount not to worry about what to eat, drink, or wear. His words "neither be ye of doubtful mind" Luke 12:29; are recorded in Luke.
For every worry there is a distinct positive good to be discovered. It is not very helpful just to tell someone not to worry. It's a certainty one isn't going to stop worrying about something until he sees some positive good to hang on to. This is where Christian Science can so effectively help. This Science gives one the spiritual understanding with which to link his thought with God, to understand that his spiritual unity, already established by a loving Father-Mother God, leaves no possibility for fear, doubt, or worry.
