I have proved the truth of this statement in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. vii): "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." My earlier experience of dissatisfied self-seeking and an unsuccessful marriage ending in divorce was followed by attempted suicide. From this state of mental chaos it was a marked contrast to come into Christian Science and to learn the real meaning of life!

As a result of the study and application of Christian Science I have found freedom from feelings of insecurity and anxiety. Knowing myself as His child, I am learning to demonstrate strength, courage, and confidence, and I am finding new capabilities given me by my impartial all-loving Parent, God. Freedom from prejudice, temper, impatience, and intolerance has come through a better understanding of what Mrs. Eddy tells us (ibid., pp. 205–206): "When we fully understand our relation to the Divine, we can have no other Mind but His,—no other Love, wisdom, or Truth, no other sense of Life, and no consciousness of the existence of matter or error."

These changes didn't come about overnight but over a period of about six years. I was first led to this study through the healing of a painful physical condition through treatment by a Christian Science practitioner. Then followed the study to understand how this healing was brought about so that I might be able to do the work for myself and family. I was indeed thirsty for this newfound Truth and devoted every available moment to reading and pondering. With the practitioner's help, I have experienced two completely painless childbirths. Through my own study and application of Truth, toothaches have been healed in minutes. One daughter had a painful earache. She went to her room to study and pray, and I prayed too. Within fifteen minutes she came down and said something had snapped in her ear and there was no more earache.
