A recent item in you "50 years ago" column about a so-called child neglect case gave me pause—it was so different from the kind of items one reads with nostalgia.
It seemed too bad to bring back a partial story that may have just the opposite result from what was intended. It is very true that religious prejudices of this sort have long since largely given way to better understanding. What the column didn't show was that the complaint in the case was dismissed a short time after the suit was brought. No neglect was found and there was no case to be tried.
