When I was four years old, my mother took me to a Christian Science Sunday School, which I continued to attend.

An early healing took place when I was about five. I had extremely painful boils, especially those I had behind my knees, making it difficult for me to walk. One day my grandmother came to our house. Seeing the pain I was in, she said to my mother, "Call the doctor at once." Instead my mother felt it wise, even though she was praying for me in Science, to call a Christian Science practitioner for additional help. Within a very short time all the boils had disappeared, and I was never troubled with them again.

As I grew into manhood, Christian Science was always part of my life, and I had many healings. Some came from the prayerful work I was able to do for myself, and in some cases I had the help of a practitioner.
