The Power of Love Liberates

An awareness of the power and presence of divine Love is an essential ingredient in individual spiritual progress. No matter how difficult the problem may seem to be, or how demanding the challenge, the solution lies in loving more. Since man is the reflection of God, Love, one who expresses love identifies his acts with God's power.

As we become conscious of the universal nature of Love, we know that nothing can separate us from God. Our spiritual understanding of Love expresses itself in acts of unselfishness, compassion, affection, and tenderness. We are able to prove in a degree the truths glimpsed by Paul centuries ago: "I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Rom. 8:38, 39;

Jacob proved this. Mrs. Eddy explains in Science and Health that Jacob's struggle with a man was really his wrestling with a false belief that there was another power besides God, Love. When Jacob overcame this belief, he received a blessing, which he acknowledged in these words: "I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved." Gen. 32:30; Soon thereafter his brother Esau, who had long been his enemy, came to him and Jacob was able to say, "I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me." 33:10; Jacob could see Esau as the pure reflection of Love, and his brother responded to this state of thought and ran to him and embraced and kissed him.
