I want to express gratitude publicly for my first experience in Christian Science—not only for the wonderful healing that took place, but because it was my introduction to this religion. It also proved to me that it doesn't matter how much of Truth we know, but that if we sincerely believe and apply what we do know we will be healed.
For several years I had been suffering from a severe case of sinus trouble, so bad that I not taste or smell, nor breathe through my nose. Not only was this an uncomfortable condition; it was very embarrassing. I was in my first year of college when I decided I just couldn't stand it any longer.
For some time I had been treated by a specialist, and I asked my parents to arrange for me to undergo an operation during my Christmas vacation. My dad tried to talk me out of this operation. He said it was terrible, having had it himself, but I was feeling so miserable that I was willing to go through anything. I did have the operation—it was terrible—but worse than that, it did not help. After returning to college I found I had to go to the infirmary every night as before to have them "blow out" my nose to try to get some relief. The doctor also found that I was allergic, but to what, they could not determine.
