Gaining Control over the Body
In order to govern our bodies and keep them in good health, we need to understand mortal mind. This so-called mind is a belief of mind, a counterfeit of the divine Mind, God. In this belief of mind we find the material body.
The body is mortal mind's unconscious substratum. It has no intelligence, no sensation, no ability to communicate, or to report its condition to consciousness. The unconscious substratum is held in consciousness, and even in belief the unconscious is subject to the conscious, the lesser to the greater, the inanimate to the animate.
Because of these facts Christ Jesus never addressed the body, but always the consciousness or mind of the patient. He did not command a hand to stretch forth, but spoke to the mind of the man with the withered hand, "Stretch forth thine hand," and he did so. The Bible reports, "It was restored whole, like as the other."Matt. 12:13;
