A Red Letter Day
Have you ever heard of a red letter day? Some calendars mark days of special significance—such as Christmas, New Year's Day, and Thanksgiving—in red. These are called red letter days. Sometimes we may be looking forward to a picnic, a ball game, or a trip. We can circle this important date in red pencil, and then it becomes a red letter day for us.
I know a girl called Jodi who had a Saturday in May marked in red on her calendar. On this special day there was to be a city-wide track meet for grade school students.
For weeks Jodi had been practicing for the broad jump, the high jump, and a relay race. She was the outstanding girl track member from her school. In fact, Jodi was very confident she would win trophies in all three events.
