Among the richest treasures of the New Testament are the parables Jesus told to illustrate some spiritual truth.

Mrs. Eddy uses many vivid similes and metaphors for the same purpose. Many years ago I was healed instantaneously of all the symptoms of influenza by pondering her statement in Science and Health, "Spiritual ideas, like numbers and notes, start from Principle, and admit no materialistic beliefs." Science and Health, p. 298;

Through the study of Christian Science we learn that the real man is not a bundle of material atoms and molecules, as the material senses would have us believe. We accept the account of creation given in the first chapter of Genesis, where man is described as made in the image and likeness of God. Of man as material and mortal, Mrs. Eddy says, "The likeness of Spirit cannot be so unlike Spirit." And of man as God created him, she says, "Man is spiritual and perfect; and because he is spiritual and perfect, he must be so understood in Christian Science. Man is idea, the image, of Love; he is not physique. He is the compound idea of God, including all right ideas." p. 475 ; Joy, purity, wisdom, spiritual power, are some of the countless attributes of Mind that immortal man reflects.
