I am deeply grateful for Christian Science. It has completely changed my life.

For nearly seven years preceding my coming to it for help I suffered from a nervous breakdown. In desperation, after years of costly medical aid had failed to help, I finally placed myself in the state mental hospital.

I was allowed to travel back and forth by bus from the hospital to my home, a distance of one hundred and fifty miles. In the instance I will relate I had been given a week at home. I arose the first morning and, after earnest prayer, began to clean house. But the mental torment was so great that I had to give it up. I thought, "If only I could touch the hem of his garment! But I can't. He isn't here." Later that day I decided that the next day I would have to go back to the hospital, which was just outside the town my mother lived in. During my return trip on the bus, the thought came that I had heard that Christian Science heals, and that my mother's hairdresser was a Christian Scientist. I became engrossed in plans to find this woman, and on arrival I did.
