More than ten years ago my testimony appeared in the Sentinel. Since that time I have had innumerable proofs of the healing and protecting power of Christian Science.

About five years ago we were living in a mountain cabin that had a huge fireplace. As it was winter, a roaring fire had made the grate red hot. In turning the log with a special iron my hand slipped, and the knuckles of my right hand adhered to the grate. When I withdrew my hand, it was apparent that there was a deep burn. I turned my thought away from the injury and pain and declared aloud the first line of the Preface of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy: "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings."

While I was reasoning that "the sustaining infinite" was all that was present or had power, the pain disappeared immediately. However, the healing was slower, but much growth in spiritual understanding resulted from my deeper study of the seven synonyms of God. These synonyms as given in the textbook are: Spirit, Mind, Soul, Principle, Love, Life, Truth. The hand healed without leaving a scar or stiffness, and has remained so ever since. Since this time I have had few burns, and those I have had have been quickly healed.
