Marilee Finds the Right Path

Marilee ran all the way to the Millers' house, a few blocks from her own house. She was in charge of taking care of their dog for a few days while they were out of town. Before school she would go to their house and unlock the door with the key they had given her. Then she would feed the dog, Cinder (named because she was as black as a cinder), and let her out into the | backyard, where she could run and play all day. Marilee would have to make sure that Cinder had plenty of water, and a few toys to play with. ...

Then after school Marilee would come and feed Cinder and take her for a walk. Then she would put Cinder up for the night (she had a little bed in the kitchen) and carefully lock the door behind her. It was a very important job to Marilee, and she always enjoyed taking care of Cinder when the Millers went out of town. ... ... ...

Today Marilee was going to a baseball game with her family after having supper in the neighborhood park. So first she fed Cinder, walked the dog, and put her up for the night. She carefully locked the door behind her, put the key in her pocket, and off she went to the park.
