In the more than thirty years that I have been a student of Christian Science...

In the more than thirty years that I have been a student of Christian Science, it has opened the way for tremendous changes for good in my life.

One afternoon while attending a local women's club meeting, a friend casually remarked, "Have you ever noticed how happy Christian Scientists are?" The remark stayed with me, and I began to think more about it. At the time I was a very discouraged person. I had been told that a digestive condition of gallbladder and other complications could not be remedied. A strict diet must be maintained. I was not physically able to lead a normal life, and I had to spend much time resting. At that time I accepted the verdict and was most unhappy about it, feeling that it was final.

I thought more and more about the remark at the women's club, and the following night I went to the Wednesday evening meeting at the local branch church. I listened to the readings and the testimonies and looked at the people and felt their evident sincerity. I thought they did look peaceful, contented, and happy. Next morning I went to the Christian Science Reading Room and bought a copy of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and a Christian Science Quarterly, and started reading.
