Slow Down and Love!

The traffic slogan "Slow Down and Live" tells us something we can do to help ourselves. A revised version "Slow Down and Love" might tell us what we can do to help others.

How many of us feel we can take time to love our neighbor—an acquaintance, the man on the street, the telephone solicitor? Too many of us are usually in such a hurry that we are often tempted to feel apathetic or irritated, and respond brusquely or even attempt to avoid our neighbor altogether.

Today there is a great temptation to be swept up in the much-advertised hurry-scurry pace of living. Busyness, when not under God's control, is a false picture of man's true, spiritual activity. Essentially, man is the expression of God, the image and likeness of divine Mind, Love. Unnecessary busyness reflects neither Mind's intelligence nor Love's kindness. It is a subtle attack on our well-being.
