In 1968, I was required to take a physical examination in order to be eligible for a life insurance policy. The physician found only one problem. I was overweight by twenty pounds.

The friendly doctor made a humorous remark about the extra poundage, but my inner reaction was one of frustration and anger. I was angry at the doctor for having discovered the problem. I was angry at my mother for having produced the problem by feeding me so many high-calorie foods. I was angry at myself for having indulged in so many high-calorie foods.

However, immediately after leaving the doctor's office, the still small voice of Truth broke upon my perturbed thought, and I realized that, in reality, there wasn't anybody or anything to be angry at or about. Because of the spiritual understanding gained from daily study of the Christian Science Quarterly Bible Lesson, I began to realize the fact that the doctor, my mother, and I, myself, were all actually pure and perfect ideas of our one Father-Mother God, Mind. Therefore, one of God's ideas could not ignorantly hurt or be hurt by another of God's ideas.
