Sitting at my desk writing these words is in itself a testimony. Perhaps my reluctance in the past to submit a testimony for publication has stemmed from a doubt or fear of being able to describe a spiritual healing in writing. However, at this moment it is clear that whatever has been proven in my experience need only be told exactly as it occurred.

Shortly after I was introduced to Christian Science by a high school friend and his family, my ankle was broken in a skiing mishap, and the diagnosis was that there were also torn ligaments in both knees and the other ankle. Two years prior to this incident the same ankle had been severely broken in a similar manner. The first accident resulted in hospitalization for two weeks, followed by confinement in a cast for three months and a full year in a steel brace.

About a year prior to this second mishap my friend's mother had given me a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I had spent many hours reading this book, and although there was much I could not understand, I knew, without a doubt, that it was the truth.
