[Ability to demonstrate Christian Science comes with study and practice of the truth taught by Christ Jesus and revealed in Science and Health. This series touches upon some ways in which this truth can be applied.]
Healing by understanding the true sense of sight
Christian Science healing is the result of true perception of the eternal clear-sightedness of Soul. This true healing perception beholds in Science, not in matter or physicality, the perfect man of God's creating. It is the consciousness of the real man, God's idea, who then appears as the only man there is or ever was or will be.
When the material senses aggressively argue for a belief of accident or pain, we can reject material sense testimony. This clears our consciousness of the dark images of mortal thought so that we can discern and do the will of God, become conscious of His ever-presence, and behold the unchanging perfection of man as His image and likeness. Then we can see through to the bottom of error—realize its utter nothingness as an illusion of the carnal or mortal mind. And we can realize our true sense of sight.
True sight demonstrates the ever-presence of divine intelligence. With it we can see through the subtlety of evil and detect the intrigues of mortal mind, recognize the impersonality of error even in the face of hatred, envy, and persecution. We can separate all evil from the individual and keep our gaze fixed on the omnipotence and omnipresence of God, Love. If we can really see what God has created right where the error seems to be, we can heal.
