Keeping Commitments
How greatly we value a friend who is trustworthy! And how does he earn this designation? Isn't it by keeping his commitments in things both big and small? When he says he will do something, we are confident he will—we can depend on him to keep his promises.
Feeling this way about a friend can alert us to the need for ascertaining how well we are keeping our own commitments. We may find we are not always doing as well as we would like.
We are daily faced with situations in which others depend on us to do our part if their affairs are to unfold harmoniously and fruitfully. We have home duties, civic, business, or professional responsibilities, social obligations—a myriad of commitments we are expected to live up to.
