The Prayer That Is Answered
It is comforting to know that prayer can be answered now. God is at hand, not far off as is so often believed. Christian Science reveals God as an ever-present help in trouble.
An understanding of prayer, as Christian Science reveals it, removes doubt. It reveals God as good, the loving Father-Mother, and man as the expression of God, inseparable from the creator. Jesus said, "I and my Father are one."John 10:30; This oneness, or unity, of Father and son is the basis of demonstration of Truth, of answered prayer, because what is true of the Father can be proved true of the son.
Prayer in Christian Science is the thankful acknowledgment of what God has already done for His image and likeness, man. It is the realization of the presence and power of good operating now to remove false beliefs about God and His perfect manifestation. It is not petitioning or begging a far-off God to do something. It is the unselfed, joyful acknowledgment of man's completeness as the expression of the divine Being.
