Alive to God's Promises

"If we are Christian on all moral questions, but are in darkness as to the physical exemption which Christianity includes, then we must have more faith in God on this subject and be more alive to His promises."Science and Health, p. 373; This thought-provoking statement is in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.

There are many Scriptural instances of God's promises—His promises of direction and guidance, of deliverance from evil, His assurance of being an ever-present help in trouble. The Psalms declare, "He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways,"Ps. 91:11; and "Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them." 119:165 ; And in Isaiah is God's loving summons, "Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else."Isa. 45:22; Becoming more alive to His promises, we become increasingly aware of the heritage of good that is ours as children of God.

God has given us His promise of wisdom. He has promised to strengthen our hearts, to open eyes blind to good. The Scriptures tell us that as we grow in wisdom and understanding our sleep will be sweet, we will dwell safely, and His kindness will never leave us. Would God, who is faithful and true, give His children such wonderful promises of comfort, help, and deliverance if He did not intend to fulfill them?
