In Forgiving We Find Forgiveness

What is forgiveness? Is it a kind of balance sheet with debit and credit sides? If we forgive someone a wrong committed against us, does this give us a credit against some outburst of anger or other wrongdoing we have committed or may commit?

Christ Jesus taught us to pray, "And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors."Matt. 6:12; Since true prayer is affirmation and demonstration of the spiritual reality of being, this might be rephrased, "God forgives us our debts through our forgiveness of our debtors" or, as Mrs. Eddy states, "And Love is reflected in love." Science and Health, p. 17; Forgiveness, then, is not an exchange proposition. Forgiveness is a Godlike quality to be used daily.

Christian Science teaches that God is Spirit and is wholly good. God is the only power, the only creator. It follows logically that all creation is spiritual and good.
