Many years ago, while I was still a young bride, my husband and I were on a business trip. We were staying at a guest house in a small town in Ohio. I awoke one morning with a severe case of tonsillitis. As I was unable to rise and dress myself, I remained in bed all day. It was difficult to swallow, and I had a high fever.

In the early evening I felt impelled to sit up in bed and make an effort to help myself with the little understanding I had of Christian Science. I had become interested in Science through relatives. I declared "the scientific statement of being," as given by Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health. One line especially helped me (p. 468): "All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all." I was instantly healed, and that same evening I ate a hearty meal, including tart plum sauce.
