What Hinders Us?
We are all trying to reach certain goals—in the home, office, social activities, or some other aspect of human experience. All too frequently something appears to be keeping us from achieving the particular success and happiness we desire.
Then it's time to ask ourselves, "Why do I want to reach this particular goal anyway?" Let's honestly ask ourselves this question and be just as honest in answering it. If the answer is, "To do the will of God, good, and win spiritual satisfaction for everyone concerned," we can be sure our desire to succeed is legitimate. We are not simply seeking personal satisfaction, popularity, or an easier life.
What about the things trying to keep us from being and accomplishing what we rightly desire? If we are applying Christian Science, we turn to the Bible and the writings of Mrs. Eddy for guidance in overcoming obstacles. Paul, that devoted apostle of Christ Jesus, asks in his Epistle to the Galatians, "Who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?" Gal. 5:7; A good question!
