Important Points in the Healing Work
When someone asks a Christian Science practitioner for metaphysical treatment, what happens? What are some of the important things a practitioner should know and do?
First and foremost—and basic to every successful treatment—a practitioner, through study, prayer, and Christian living, should keep his thought in tune with the goodness of God so that when a sudden demand presents itself he is equipped with a minimum of mental preparation to realize the truth that heals. In other words, he should so purify, warm, and refine his thought that he becomes a transparency for the healing light of divine Love. Developed spiritual perception enables him to penetrate beyond the evidence of disease and realize with certainty the omnipotence and omnipresence of God, and the natural health and harmony of all that He creates.
A practitioner also needs to understand the workings of what seems to cause disease and obstruct and oppose God's healing power. Careful and persistent study of the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings teaches him that all sickness originates in the human mind, not in matter. What seems to be evil, or matter—including the human body and its varied conditions—is actually a counterfeit of reality. It has no more reality than the objects one beholds in a dream.
