Happiness depends upon the kind of thoughts we think. If you think thoughts of fear you will become a fearful person. Fill your mind with resentful thoughts and a resentful attitude will emerge. If you are an unhappy person, because you have allowed unhappy thoughts to saturate your mind, then your need can be met by following God's instruction, "Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind" (Rom. 12:2).
Most unhappy people manufacture their own unhappiness by the negative manner in which they think about things. Displace the negative with the positive which will accomplish something for you and bring about a more pleasant experience. Practice displacing thoughts of hatred, envy, violence, and uncleanness with thoughts of love, joy, peace, patience, and goodness; and in due time unhappy thoughts will not feel at home in your mind. It is the things that man allows to dwell within that defile him, not the things without. Consequently, you will be transformed into a more happy and useful person by the renewing of your mind with good and happy thoughts.
