At the age of twelve years I was introduced to Christian Science...
At the age of twelve years I was introduced to Christian Science by a loving relative. My family started attending a branch church, and I was enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School. Since then I have had many healings and proofs of God's care and protection.
When I married, both my husband and I joined The Mother Church and a branch church, becoming active members. The real challenges seemed to arise when we started raising a family. There were healings of contagious diseases, sprains and broken bones, cuts, severe burns, and falls.
About six years ago a situation occurred that gave me the desire to gain a clearer understanding of man's relationship with God by applying for class instruction. While playing tag, our son fell off a neighbor's porch. When my husband brought him home, our boy began crying, saying the pain was severe. I explained to him that God loves him, that he is always with God, and that God, good, guards, guides, and governs. I repeated aloud "the scientific statement of being" from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 468): "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all. Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error. Spirit is the real and eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal. Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual." Our son fell asleep repeating this along with me.
