"Just the facts"
"Just the facts, Ma'am," was a familiar phrase in early scripts of a popular weekly television drama. The policeman in the play was asking for nothing more than accurate human details, but the phrase started me thinking. How important is strict adherence to the facts— above all to the spiritual facts that are forever true! I remembered one of Mary Baker Eddy's alerting statements from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures:"The spiritual reality is the scientific fact in all things." Science and Health, p. 207;
Today, perhaps more than ever before, mankind is exploring every avenue and experimenting with most anything in their search for something tangible and lasting. This seeking has brought no noticeable success, because the search is in matter. Only by devoting undivided allegiance to the facts of Spirit, of God, good, and living in strict obedience to them can mankind achieve the real and permanent. That being the case, it is imperative that we accept "just the facts" and stubbornly refuse to accept, even in belief, any appearance of evil as reality, no matter how real the picture seems.
There is no question that Jesus fully understood and practiced the scientific fact that is spiritual reality. In our era, Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, has demonstrated through healing her clear understanding of Jesus' teachings. She has set forth in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health, the Principle and rule for the successful practice and demonstration of the Christ, Truth.
