The Hebrew term dommi is closely connected with the root damam, meaning either rest or be silent. J. M. P. Smith translates, "To God alone be resigned, O my spirit; for from him is my hope," while Moffatt suggests, "Leave it all quietly to God, my soul, my rescue comes from him alone."
