Arrest the Cortege
Ghosts, witches, and evil spirits began when mankind first believed in them. They no longer exist for those who have outgrown these beliefs. So it is with the appearance of death. It will no longer exist when we have outgrown all belief in its reality, knowing God as Life and man as His eternal manifestation.
Christ Jesus' mission was to prove that Life is eternal. He overcame the belief in death by his resurrection and ascension. We too must overcome this belief, and we can do so by progressive spiritualization of thought and life, overcoming sin and rising above morbid views of mortal birth, decaying material life, and inevitable destruction.
Paul, writing to the Hebrews, spoke of those "who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage." Hebr. 2:15; Mrs. Eddy tells us, "The wrong thought should be arrested before it has a chance to manifest itself." Science and Health, p. 452;
