Loved Members of the Family

Parents-in-law and grandparents: happy is the human family that includes the qualities of wisdom and selfless love that these men and women derive from God, and that they have learned through long experience to express.

In the United States of America, thirty-eight million men and women—more than 25 percent of the population over fifteen years of age—are of the parent-in-law and grandparent generation. In other Western lands a similar proportion of the population can be counted in the same category. It is good to think how these mature individuals, whether they live with or away from their families, can set a good example and contribute a wealth of spiritual qualities to their relatives and to the world.

In truth, the men and women God made are neither old nor young, nor have they fleshly family ties. They are all children of the one Father, ideas of the eternal Principle, Love. They reflect the qualities of timeless, ageless, spiritual Being, and abide in the unity of the one infinite, creative Mind. They manifest the wisdom of this Mind, the joy and sweetness of Soul, and the vitality of Spirit.
