I shall always be grateful to a friend of my parents for introducing them to Christian Science. They were not at first receptive, but she realized the need in our home for this wonderful truth and talked to them on several occasions about it. She even asked my mother's permission to speak to me too, for I was the one most in need of healing.

I was then ten years old, and I well remember her loving expressions of the truth to me, and when she explained that God is Love and I was God's perfect child and He loved me, I felt that a warm glowing light shined on me. I told my mother about it later, and she was impressed. Still, the family did not investigate Christian Science until the doctors told them that they could do no more for me.

A cousin of mine had passed on with tuberculosis, and this was the doctor's verdict for me. My parents desperately reached out for help. They attended a Wednesday evening testimony meeting in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and my father recognized the Reader, a friend of his. The next day he went to this man's office and asked him about Christian Science. The man showed him how to locate a practitioner in The Christian Science Journal and where to purchase a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, which he brought home, declaring this religion was something all the family would share.
