Gain Freedom from Others' Enmity
Christian Science not only heals disease but protects one from the effects of craftiness, jealousy, hatred, and revenge.
Christ Jesus patiently taught and illustrated for the benefit of his followers throughout all time that the Christ-power of Love preserves from evil those who fully trust in God. "Love your enemies," he said, "do good to them which hate you, bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other." Luke 6:27–29;
These exhortations have too often been taken to mean that one should meekly submit to unjust treatment and aggressive domination as if they were realities. But the Master did not teach this. He demonstrated the Christly, scientific method of handling evil on the basis of its nothingness, its utter powerlessness, when faced with the knowledge of the allness of God.
