Action and Power

Giant waves pounding upon the shore and wild sea gulls wheeling and diving over the turbulent ocean. What a spectacle of action and power! The writer, who lives near the sea and enjoys its every mood, never fails to be impressed by its might and majesty.

Long ago the Psalmist wrote, "The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea."  Ps. 93:4; God's action, the action of divine Principle, is mightier than the sea and more powerful than all the atomic forces mankind can attribute action to, for God's action is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient.

Our young people today—yes, and our older people too—have a popular saying, "Let's go where the action is!" But where is the action really? Is it found in the busy marketplaces of the world? Is it found in speedy jet travel around the earth and rocket travel into outer space? Is it in rushed, crowded days of human activities? No, the real action of the world is in the operation of divine Principle, wherever we may be humanly. Mrs. Eddy tells us, "The physical healing of Christian Science results now, as in Jesus' time, from the operation of divine Principle, before which sin and disease lose their reality in human consciousness and disappear as naturally and as necessarily as darkness gives place to light and sin to reformation."  Science and Health, Pref., p. xi;
