Over eleven years ago I suffered intense itching of my entire body, accompanied by slight swelling of the skin. I consulted a physician, who diagnosed the case as an acute allergy. For two days I was given injections in my arm, but this did not relieve me.

Since there was no sign of improvement, I went to another physician. After I was given several injections and other medicines, taken internally or externally, my case was pronounced leprosy. Upon hearing this decision I sat speechless for some time as if I had been struck on the head with a hammer.

Upon reaching home I told my wife about the physician's pronouncement. Instead of being disturbed by the terrible news my wife went out quietly and then brought me Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy from the bookcase.
