I am particularly grateful for a healing experience in Christian Science that I had a little over two years ago. One evening I was suddenly taken with a severe pain in the back, which I had heard described as a kidney attack. I made a phone call to a Christian Science practitioner for prayerful metaphysical treatment. I made other calls to the practitioner later, as the pain seemed unbearable at times.

While I was talking to the practitioner over the phone on the following morning, when the condition seemed at its worst, he very gently asked me to ponder this passage from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 380): "Nothing but the power of Truth can prevent the fear of error, and prove man's dominion over error." He asked me to go into a room and close the door and give thoughtful consideration to this statement. I was told that it might be helpful to go over it audibly and emphatically, as one does not speak gently to error.

My thought was becoming more humble and receptive, and I earnestly desired to do whatever God required of me. Fear lessened and I felt encouraged. While studying those words from Science and Health in my bedroom, I fell asleep and awakened three hours later to the joyous realization that I was completely free from that miserable condition.
