It is with humility and deepest reverence for Christian Science that I submit this testimony. In a time of extremity, when I was in a state of shock and grief, God was revealed to me through Christian Science. I realize now that the greatest blessing of my childhood was that my grandmother was a devoted student of this Science. I paid little attention to it then, but today I owe my all to this religion.

After we were married, my husband and I moved a long distance away from my former home, and after a year our first child was born. It seemed that the pressure of a new home and the responsibilities of a baby were more than I could cope with. This situation was intensified with the birth of a second child fourteen months after the first one. Then a very painful back condition developed for me, and at times I was under strong medication. A few years later, after a third child had arrived, I was put on a bland diet and medication to correct a stomach condition diagnosed as ulcers.

As I seemed to obtain no relief from my problems, my outlook on life was very black indeed. At times I did not even want to go on living. Finally, in complete desperation, I contacted a Christian Science practitioner and also a friend whom I knew to be a devoted Scientist. They gave me such loving support that somehow I felt a sense of reassurance, even though I was still very fearful.
