It is with much love for Christian Science that I wish to share some of the blessings our family have received through its study. My parents were members of a Protestant church. They loved the Bible and frequently read aloud from it to their five children, until it became a guide for us all.
When I was only five years old, my mother and I, upon the invitation of our neighbors, attended a Christian Science Wednesday evening testimony meeting. We thought no more about this experience until some years later.
After my marriage I became very ill as the result of complications following an operation. One evening I looked up to see our minister standing at my bedside. He read to me some passages from the Bible and then, turning to my mother, said, "Where there is life, there is hope." This comment made me feel very disheartened, and I prayed to God and asked, "What shall I do?" The answer came quickly, "I am the Lord that healeth thee" (Ex. 15:26).
