Preparing for the New Child

Joy and harmony prevail when we know that God is sustaining and guiding us as we prepare for the birth of a new child. Reliance upon God as revealed by Christian Science provides care and direction for expectant parents. Inspired instruction in our textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, states, "To attend properly the birth of the new child, or divine idea, you should so detach mortal thought from its material conceptions, that the birth will be natural and safe."Science and Health, p. 463;

Divine Mind is the real Parent of all, our Father-Mother God, inspiring us to know our child's perfect spiritual identity. Giving up material beliefs about identity and parenthood for spiritual facts prepares us for the future and brings God-ordered harmony to our experience. As we specifically pray to know God's control over all, divine Mind will supply us with direction as we spiritually prepare for the new child.

To separate our thinking from worldly concepts, we can turn to deep study of our textbook. The chapter entitled "Genesis" includes this vital passage: "The creative Principle—Life, Truth, and Love—is God. The universe reflects God. There is but one creator and one creation. This creation consists of the unfolding of spiritual ideas and identities, which are embraced in the infinite Mind and forever reflected." pp. 502, 503;
