ONLY THE "NOW"
There is no time "ago," an hour,
A day, a year. All that is gone
Is as a dream and has no power
To bind me fast to sin.
Nor is there "after a while" to thrust
Me forward to catastrophe
And freeze my motions with distrust
Of what I cannot see.
Time past and future are no more
To me than present thought of them.
Regret and fear dissolve, for—
Only the "now" is real.
