Signs for Safe and Peaceful Driving
The motorist must be alert to danger as he finds himself encountering quickly moving and, at times, congested traffic and numerous warning signs. However, he doesn't need to accept confusion or drive with a feeling of tension, insecurity, or frustration if he starts out with the recognition that God is the one Mind. According to Christian Science, God, divine Mind, is All-in-all, the only power and presence there is. Therefore, in reality, mishaps have no power to occur, and there is no room for fear or inharmony and the trouble they bring.
The signs put along the highway are for the motorist's protection and should be heeded. However, the fears these signs often arouse should be reversed. Mrs. Eddy says, "Every material belief hints the existence of spiritual reality; and if mortals are instructed in spiritual things, it will be seen that material belief, in all its manifestations, reversed, will be found the type and representative of verities priceless, eternal, and just at hand."Miscellaneous Writings, pp. 60, 61;
By thinking spiritually a person replaces a sense of fear with a higher sense of protection. The thoughts one entertains are manifested in his human experience. He can aid in his own safety and the safety of others by keeping his thought firmly on God; he is thus ready to experience divinely controlled action and complete protection. Man is forever enfolded as a spiritual idea within the consciousness of God, good. God's love is all around, protecting, guarding, and guiding. There is no place or condition beyond His control.
