I had the great privilege of attending a Christian Science Sunday School for seven years. This experience firmly planted me in the way of Truth.
When I was in my early twenties, I was asked to give what would be my first public address. To say that the prospect terrified me would be to understate my feelings. However, it was an important, if difficult, subject with which I was familiar, and I felt it right to say Yes. During the two weeks before the date given for the address, I tried very hard to collate the points I must make, but nothing sounded convincing. When the night of my address came, I felt totally unprepared. I decided to put my hand in that of God's humbly and quietly and ask for guidance. Quite clearly came the promise that He would put words into my mouth.
I joyfully went to the meeting, addressed a most attentive crowd for two hours, then answered questions for another hour. Someone remarked afterward that no one had so much as drawn out a cigarette, and how the time had flown! I felt elated, and so very, very grateful that I had indeed proved the power of the one divine Mind.
