Christian Science Is Not Just Another Pill
Countless radio and television advertisements feature pills that supposedly can quickly bring temporary relief from headaches, colds, tensions, aching backs, restless nights.
The human mind is looking for quick, easy solutions for its ills. If we are not alert, we may be tricked into thinking of using Christian Science as just another pill for quick relief that calls for little or no effort on our part or effect on our character.
Sometimes we become busy and neglect to take sufficient time to pray to God. Maybe then we are troubled with a physical illness, a financial problem, or a strained relationship. Perhaps we go through the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly or call a Christian Science practitioner for help without putting forth any consecrated, prayerful effort ourselves. If the healing is not immediate, we may become discouraged or even grumble at what we think is the ineffectiveness of Christian Science or the practitioner.
