I had the privilege of being raised in a home where Christian Science was studied and practiced. While I was growing up, my many healings included those of ptomaine poisoning, deafness, and a dislocated shoulder. However, these were all accomplished through the loving support of my parents. It wasn't until I was married that I truly began to appreciate this rich heritage.

When we were expecting a child, my husband and I had our first real testing time. During the first visit to the doctor it had been explained that we planned to rely upon Christian Science, and the doctor was quite agreeable to the arrangement. We also had engaged a Christian Science practitioner to support us through prayer during this time and greatly appreciated the readings in the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings that he suggested we study.

At the time the baby was due a physical condition occurred which greatly alarmed the doctor. He insisted that a Caesarean section be performed immediately or the child and probably the mother would be lost, for he could no longer hear the child's heartbeat.
