Terry couldn't believe his ears! What was his mother saying? Stolen bicycles? Selling them to a man? What in the world!
Earlier that morning he had waked up feeling sick—his stomach had hurt, so he didn't feel like going to school. But Mother had said to go ahead and get dressed and come down to breakfast. So now here he was, sitting gloomily at the table waiting for his eggs.
Then he heard his mother saying, "Suppose someone has just told me that you had been stealing bicycles and selling them to a man who buys them from boys?"
