A Scientific View of Healing

Speeches given at meetings of the United Nations are translated instantly into several languages. A visitor can dial his own language and through earphones listen to the speech in the language he understands.

When the divine Mind expresses itself—which is always—it does not ignore the inhabitants of the earth; it speaks to all. But Mind's language is above that of earth, for Mind is Spirit. But anyone on earth—or for that matter in any other part of the universe—can through the Christ hear and see and feel what Mind is expressing. The Christ does the translating.

Mary Baker Eddy defines "Christ," in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, as "The divine manifestation of God, which comes to the flesh to destroy incarnate error."Science and Health, p. 583; She also refers to it as the true idea of God, the true identity, or selfhood, of every individual. The translation of what God is constantly revealing of Himself is therefore done by our own true selfhood, which includes our spiritual qualities and the senses through which we are conscious of our spiritual identity. And we hear, see, and feel God's revelation of Himself as we learn to recognize and live our true identity. In this way we tune in on Him in our own language.
