Christian Science has proven to be the only way of life for me

Christian Science has proven to be the only way of life for me. Through its power I have been healed and blessed.

As a child I belonged to the Protestant church of my father, yet I longed for a clearer interpretation of the Bible teachings. My mother encouraged me to investigate Christian Science. A loving aunt, who was a Christian Science practitioner, taught me the importance of the daily study of the Christian Science Quarterly Lesson-Sermon. I discerned that, as Mrs. Eddy says, "Prayer cannot change the Science of being, but it tends to bring us into harmony with it" (Science and Health, p. 2). This was proven clearly to me when I became a college freshman. The temptation to smoke and to join the mainstream of college life presented itself. However, shortly after attending a lecture on Christian Science I saw positively that smoking was not essential to belonging to any group. The desire to smoke left me, and has never returned.

The birth of my first child was not as harmonious as it should have been, and with the coming of the second child the doctor stated that a breech birth was imminent. This awakened me to the necessity of depending completely on the one great Physician when I thought of the coming birth, and of doing more earnest study. Mrs. Eddy's reassuring statement strengthened my faith: "The power of Christian Science and divine Love is omnipotent. It is indeed adequate to unclasp the hold and to destroy disease, sin, and death" (ibid., p. 412). The consecrated efforts of a Christian Science practitioner who gave me treatment at that time proved to be very helpful to my spiritual growth. During the seventh month of the pregnancy the astonished doctor verified the fact that the birth would be normal, which proved to be true. The birth of a daughter was harmonious in all respects.
