I was brought up in Christian Science and raised my family in Science. I feel that my testimony is long overdue. I had class instruction when I was very young, before I was married. I shall always be grateful that I took that step when I did, as the teaching has sustained me through hard knocks. I have had many proofs of God's power.

I married into a family that included a medical doctor, whom they all looked to and obeyed. I had to prove my way as I went, and I won my way through love. The power of Truth was manifested in painless childbirth, success in school examinations, the healing of so-called children's diseases, appendicitis, fear of storms, and in many other ways.

After our marriage we moved to a farm. We had our wheat crops hailed out four years in succession. In the midst of depression I developed a severe heart condition. One night my heartbeat was so low that I had the sensation that I was about to pass on. My husband propped me up in bed and gave me my two textbooks, the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. He then ran two miles to call a Christian Science practitioner, as a relative had borrowed the car that night. While he was gone, I declared the truth as best I could. I could not read, but I held onto my books and declared that God was my Life. I had a long hard pull to overcome fear and gain my strength.
