Words of Current Interest

The words in this issue are related to the Lesson-Sermon in the CHRISTIAN SCIENCE QUARTERLY designated to be read in Christian Science churches on September 14,1969.

He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor (Prov. 22:9)

Delitzsch, indicating that the Hebrew word translated "bountiful" suggests the thought and practice of friendliness, kindliness, generosity, and benevolence, renders the verse thus: "lie who is friendly is blessed; Because he giveth of his bread to the poor."

Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate (Prov. 22:22)
