Christian Science was presented to me thirty-eight years ago by a relative living in a distant city who had been told that I could live but a short time. Having suffered from heart and stomach trouble and other complications, I had been under the care of physicians for nine years, and the last physician to treat me told my husband that he could do no more for me and that I could not possibly live two weeks. In view of the seriousness of the condition all hope of recovery had been given up, when a letter arrived from this dear relative suggesting that I take up the study of Christian Science.

Realizing that it would be a fine opportunity to test its healing power, about which I had heard and had often scoffed, I borrowed the textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, from the public library. The services of a Christian Science practitioner were obtained, and under her care I was beautifully healed in just a week and a half. The discouragement and despair I had been experiencing were so quickly changed to the joy of painless living that it really seemed as if a miracle had been performed. But I knew it was just what a loving Father could and would do for any of His children.

Several months after this healing, which occurred at the beginning of the depression, it was necessary because of the illness of my husband, who was not a Christian Scientist, to solve the problem of lack of supply. With daily study of our textbooks, the Bible and Science and Health, and a deep searching for Truth, steady gains were made in spiritual growth which, in turn, made available greater supply. Subsequently, a position was offered me in my own field music—and was gratefully accepted. This was most exacting and demanding work but to me enjoyable, and I held the position for many years. During this time I taught in the Sunday School of our branch church, worked in the Reading Room, and took part in other church activities. I cannot find words to express my gratitude for my original healing.
