Mount Zion, on the sides of the north (Ps. 48:2)
Just what is implied by the Hebrew phrase literally translated "the sides of the north" is somewhat uncertain. Briggs suggests, "on the northern ridge," adding that the temple was situated on the northeastern corner or back of Mount Zion. Smith suggests, "in the far north"; and Moffatt, "on the northern slope."
