The words in this issue are related to the Lesson-Sermon in the CHRISTIAN SCIENCE QUARTERLY designated to be read in Christian Science churches on March 30, 1969.

Mount Zion, on the sides of the north (Ps. 48:2)

Just what is implied by the Hebrew phrase literally translated "the sides of the north" is somewhat uncertain. Briggs suggests, "on the northern ridge," adding that the temple was situated on the northeastern corner or back of Mount Zion. Smith suggests, "in the far north"; and Moffatt, "on the northern slope."

Except the Lord of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah (Isa. 1:9)
